Commitment. These days it seems that this word is not that popular. I hear young people tell each other: why get married, just live together. Sometimes it is hard for us to commit to simple things but this is not God's way. In the book of Luke 9:51 talking about Jesus, we read, "He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem." This is a statement of courage with a firm commitment to accomplish what God had sent Jesus to do, in spite of all the scorn and hatred that would be heaped upon Him. In spite of the fact that the cross was before him, Jesus didn't give up the first time a little inconveince showed up. He didn't say no I can't do that, I have something else I want to do. He set his face like flint and because of that strong commitment, Jesus succeeded in his mission.
Romans 12:1& 2 says I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Paul was telling us that it is possible to commit our lives to the Lord to get saved but not commit to the Lord in our daily lives. But making a commitment every day of your life to do it His way is the only way that we will begin to see God's perfect will for our lives. What is God's perfect will for your life? It is prosperity in your mind, body, spirit, relationships, work, purpose; in every area of your life.
Notice that Paul says you present your body". It didn't say God was going to zap you or go get the pastor to pray for you to be more committed. It is up to us. It says you decide, you make the choice, you make the commitment. It's up to us to make a quality decision to commit to doing things His way, when we do that we will be living in the perfect will of God and we will succeed in our mission just like Jesus. Think about it. GO CHURCH.
